                                     Veera Narayana Temple,Belavadi

The Veera Narayana temple is located in Belavadi, a village in the Chikkamagaluru  district of Karnataka  state, India. The temple was built during the rule of the Haysala Empire. Known to legend as Ekachakranagara, Belavadi is said to be the place mentioned in Mahabharatha where Pandava prince Bheema killed the demon Bakasura and protected the village and its people. Belavadi is 29 km southeast of Chikmagalur town on the Chikmagalur-Javagal highway. It is a short distance from the famous temple towns of  Belur and Halebidu, and a visit to this town is a rewarding experience.

Udhagamandalam also Ootacamund and abbreviated as Udhagai and Ooty  is a town and muncipality in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. It is located 80 km north of Coimbatore and is the capital of the Nilgiris distric. It is a popular hill station located in the Nilgiri Hills.

Ooty is situated in the Nilgiri hills. The name meaning blue mountains in Tamil, Kannada and Badaga and most other Indian languages might have arisen from the blue smoky haze given off by the eucalyptus trees that cover the area or from the Kurunji flower, which blooms every twelve years and gives the slopes a bluish tinge. Because of the beautiful mountains and green valleys, Ooty became known as the Queen of Hill Stations.

                                     Hoysaleshvara Temple,Halebid

A colomned Nandi pavilion in the Hoysaleshvara temple,Halebid.

Today, the principal attraction of Halebid is the Hoysaleshvara Temple,begun in1121 by King Vishnuvardhana,but never finished.This structure comprises a pair of identical temples, each with its own east facing linga sanctuary opening on to a hall and a screened porch.Each Temple is also preceded by a pavilion with a huge statue of Nandi,the bull vehicle of shiva.As the two halls are joined together to create a spacious columned interior, the temples function as a single monument.the outer walls are elevated on friezes of naturalistic and fanciful animals, interspersed with animated carvings of scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

                             Galaganatha Temple,Pattadakkal

The sacred complex at Pattadakkal  is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Malprabha river. A UNESCO World heritage Site,its superb 8^th century temples are a fitting climax to the artistic achievements of the chalukya kings ,as seen in neighbouring Badami and Aihole while these towns are important ancient settlements , Pattadakal, with only a small resident population ,was mainly used for royal festives and coronation ceremonies.

The larger but incomplete Galaganatha Temple nearby has a well preserved tower with sharply cut tiers of horseshoe shaped motifs and a ribbed finial.

                                                          Nilgiri Tahr

The Nilgiri tahr (Nilgiritragus hylocrius) known locally as the Nilgiri ibex or simply ibex, is an ungulate that is endemic to the Nilgiri Hills and the southern portion of the Western Ghats in the states of Tamilnadu and Kerala in southern India. It is the state animal of Tamilnadu. Despite its local name, it is more closely related to the sheep of the Ovis genus than the ibex and wild goats of the Capra genus. In the Tamil language it is called varaiaadu . The Nilgiri tahr is a stocky goat with short, coarse fur and a bristly mane. Males are larger than females and of darker color when mature.
