ERAVIKULAM NATIONAL PARK
The National Park is home to the largest population of the endangered
mountain goat, the Nilgiri Tahr, and also plays host to tigers, leopards, sloth
bear, wild boar, 120 species of avifauna, a rare collection of trees, and
shrubs amongst other wildlife and natural beings. The massive flowering of
Neelakurinji, an endemic shrub that flowers once in 12 years, accounts for
heavy inflow of visitors in the park to witness this unique phenomenon.
