These beautiful stone sculptures in sharp relief represent Jain Tirthankaras, probably within the Shravanabelagola Jain complex in Karnataka, India. Statues of the Tirthankaras seated in serene meditative postures speak of the great craftsmanship and devotion to Jainism. Significantly decorated with symbolic elements like the tree canopy symbolizing spiritual awakening and renunciation, these sculptures are found inside temple grounds. They carry with them the culture and rich artistic legacy of Jainism, which in some ways add to the atmosphere of the idol of Gomateshwara on top of Vindhyagiri Hill.
