A traditional laterite-brick tower structure from Kerala, commonly identified as a Nilavara (ancient granary) attached to a temple or palace complex. A square, multi-storeyed brick structure built on a raised stone platform. Constructed using laterite bricks, typical of Kerala architecture. A sloping tiled roof to protect the interior from heavy monsoon rains. Stone steps and circular stone rollers/wheels around the base, which were used during maintenance and pest control. Surrounded by coconut palms and tropical vegetation, indicating a humid coastal environment. And this is the structure belongs to the medieval period of Kerala history (roughly 15th–18th century CE) and functioned as a granary for storing paddy and other grains. Such Nilavaras were commonly found in temple complexes and royal households under local rulers and chieftains.
