This is the ancient “Tubular Jars” discovered at the Pattanam archaeological site (Kerala, India). Has been kept in a museum display featuring long terracotta tubular jars that were excavated at Pattanam. These jars date to around the 9th season of excavation (2015). They were found arranged in a straight row, some intact and some damaged.
The text panel explains that: The jars are open at both ends. Their purpose is still uncertain—possibly ritual, drainage, industrial, or storage. Analysis suggests a non-Indian origin of the pottery style. They may be related to Indo-Mediterranean or maritime trade, since Pattanam is associated with ancient Muziris, in a museum exhibit displaying archaeological tubular terracotta jars excavated at Pattanam, an important ancient port site linked to the historic Muziris trade network.
